2016 Fo Guang Temple of Toronto's Chinese School

December 18th was the last class of 2016 for the Fo Guang Temple of Toronto's Chinese School. All students and teachers spent this special day to create a thank you card together. The purpose of this card was to present gratitude to the Temple and Venerables for providing a high-quality learning environment, to present appreciation to the volunteers in the kitchen for kindly proving lunch for everyone after school sessions, and to thank everyone in the Temple for caring for and assisting with the school.

This thank you card was created by students, who were divided into different team productions. After the initial idea and design discussions, some groups were in charge of drawing, some groups were in charge of writing, and many assisted with cutting and pasting. Everyone showed a focused interest and active participation, with wonderful ideas popping up one after another. Mr. Hanjie Xiao, a teacher from the Advanced Class, led the students in composing a poem of gratitude for the venerables。The class composed another poem of appreciation for the volunteers in the kitchen and the Tea House.

The teachers also prepared cakes and drinks for this special day. After the completion of the thank you card, everyone gathered together and celebrated a year well done. School Executive Director, Emily Ma, led everyone in sending good wishes to all: “May everyone, whether you are beautiful or not, healthy or sick, rich or poor, happy or not, young or old, have a safe, healthy, blessed and wonderful year in 2017.”   (by Sanly)
