Branksome Hall School Students Visited the Temple - Virtual Temple Tour

Branksome Hall School Grade Four teachers, Michelle Iwata and Maria Castillo coordinated with Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, scheduled the first virtual Temple Tour. Nearly forty students joined the virtual temple tour via zoom, where some of them in school classrooms, some of them in their home.


Venerable Ru An welcomed the visitors and introduced that the temple is not only a religious place but also a place where visitors could experience serenity and joy through the diverse function in the temple.


Martyn Knowles, the temple tour guide volunteer, introduced the function and meaning of the Main Shrine, the Buddha statues, Dharma instruments, and things in the Main Shrine. He also presented the story of Prince Siddhartha and various interesting topics, inspired them to practice the Three Act of Goodness in daily life.


Special arrangements included interactive sessions such as “Wisdom Verses from Venerable Master Hsing Yun,” meditation, and Q&A. Michelle and Maria appreciated the opportunity for joining the Virtual Temple Tour. They believed that the students have learned a lot about Buddhism through such a unique arrangement. What impressed everyone most was the word "compassion."
