Going Online to Learn How to Make Vegetarian Japanese Hand Rolls

In accordance with the government’s guidelines to practice physical distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic, BLIA of Toronto continues to provide learning opportunities for its members via the Internet. On Jun 13th, North York Subchapters #1 and #2 jointly organized an online lesson for their members to come together to learn how to make yummy and nutritious vegetarian Japanese Hand Rolls with Sushi Chef Terry Han.

The session took place at one of the classrooms at the FGS Temple of Toronto and was more than a demonstration. Participants were required to prepare the ingredients before the lesson: seaweed, julienned cabbage, carrot, cucumber, avocado, mayonnaise etc. 29 members participated through a Zoom Meeting to learn and have fun at the same time.

Everyone was so enthusiastic with many questions for Chef Terry. He even shared with the class some pro tips on making sushi and how to choose the right seaweed, avocado, rice and vinegar.

Abbess of the FGS Temple of Toronto, Venerable Chueh Fan, and other Venerables also made an appearance during the lesson as a show of encouragement for all the participants.
