Help Donors Double the Impact of Their Donations - Fo Guang Shan Temple Matching Hospital Donations to Battle COVID-19

Starting on May 5, 2020, a new global day of giving called "Giving Tuesday Now", Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple of Toronto and Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) of Toronto will match donations to the “Be a Hero for our Heroes matchup” fundraising campaigns up to a maximum of twenty-thousand Canadian dollars within the coming four weeks. Donations will be made to Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) in the Greater Toronto Area for purchasing personal protective equipment for health care workers.

Health care workers are heroes who are fighting against the coronavirus pandemic. While they are trying their best to take care of patients, they also need our help. The MSH is the only hospital in Markham within the York Region, which is also one of the very few hospitals equipped to treat SARS patients.  Twenty-five percent of Toronto BLIA’s members live in the York Region, and these donations are indeed a means of expressing their love for the community and giving back.

We’re All In This Together and Together We Will Get Through It

Early in March, FGS Temple of Toronto and BLIA of Toronto consolidated our efforts to establish the “COVID-19 Emergency Fund” to assist Ontario hospitals’ response to COVID-19 with the purchase of much needed medical equipment.
