Online Offering Service for Buddhas & Celestial Guardians
Jointly Held by Nine Fo Guang Shan Branch Temples in Canada and USA

Due to the pandemic outbreak, Eastern America Fo Guang Shan Temples in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, New York, Boston, New Jersey, Dallas (Texas), Houston and Austin jointly held the “2021 Offering Service for Buddhas & Celestial Guardians” on February 20th and 21st at the Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto. All online participants, around more than 1,200 people, carried out the prostrate etiquette to thank the compassionate heavenly blessings and protection of the Triple Gem and Dharma protectors.

On February 20, the Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, Venerable Chueh Fan first stated that it is very rare for the 9 temples from Toronto, New York, Dallas, Ottawa, Montreal, New York, Boston, New Jersey, Houston and Austin, to jointly hold the “2021 Offering Service for Buddhas & Celestial Guardians” during the pandemic and it is a great delight to be able to invite the Abbess of Fo Guang Shan Temple of New York and Ottawa, Venerable Yung Ku, to be the service’s Presiding Master and lead the Guiding Venerables of different temples from both Canada and USA to carry out this historic offering service across time and space.

When the offering service ended on February 21st, Venerable Yung Ku explained the purpose and origin of the Buddhist temple’s annual offering service for Buddhas & Celestial Guardians by describing the different areas of governance of the 24 Celestial Guardians, in groups of six, who are protecting mankind; she also reminded everyone that besides paying religious respects and showing gratitude to the heavens and gods, being grateful to Dharma protectors, and asking for wishes to be granted, we have to further emphasize on environmental protection and continue to promote learning and practicing.
